SWEET Co. is a Japanese bakery founded in Seattle in 1913 by Soshichiro Watanabe. Soshichiro decided to move back to Matsumoto, Japan, in 1923 and the company has been providing hand-made baked products in the area ever since. It has survived World War II and various economical down turns in the 20th century.
The current president, Kyota Watanabe, is the great grandson of Soshichiro, and is the 4th generation. Thanks to the centennial anniversary in 2013, he researched the company’s history and developed a vision for the next 100 years. SWEET’s return to Seattle would bring valuable meaning to various generations, as well as promote friendship and exchange ideas between the cities. Please visit our Blog for updates as we return to Seattle; we would love to have you along on the journey!
